Breathe Strong - An Introduction to SKY, Breath and Meditation. Dr. Sharan Asundi, an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, will lead a workshop on SKY (Sudarshan Kriya Yoga), a breathing-based meditation that can help ease stress and anxiety. Participants can experience a simple breathing technique, followed by a guided meditation. You'll need a laptop or a tablet, a comfortable chair and a quiet space for yourself. Monday, Nov. 2, 10 to 11 a.m. (A second session, focusing on a different breathing technique, will be offered on Nov. 19.)

Confederate Monuments and Racial Trauma. With special guest Dr. Jonathan Leib, Professor and Chair, Department of Political Science and Geography. The event is sponsored by the Center for Faculty Development and the Office of Faculty Diversity & Retention. Additional speakers include Dr. Narketta Sparkman-Key and Dr. Annette Finley-Croswhite. Dr. Sparkman-Key will open the event with personal insights; Dr. Leib will discuss the politics of landscape, place, and debates over Confederate monuments in a time heightened anxiety; and Dr. Annette Finley-Croswhite will address post-traumatic slave syndrome (PTSS), trauma pedagogy and how to reduce student invisibility in our classrooms. Yoga Workshop. Join (Jivani) Lisa M. Drago, Adjunct Yoga Instructor in Â鶹¹ú²úAV's Department of Human Movement Sciences. The session will include gentle yoga poses followed by guided relaxation, breath work and meditation. For props, participants should have a blanket and pillow or cushion (optional: yoga mat and yoga block). Participants should not practice on a full stomach. End-of-Semester Celebration: Bring Your Pet to Zoom! Our pets often make appearances in Zoom meetings and classes. Come celebrate the end of the semester by "bringing your pet to work"!
