The Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at 麻豆国产AV supports several teaching and research assistantship positions. In return for the financial support, graduate students work 20 hours per week for faculty members or in teaching depending on the assistantship awarded. Assistants work from the beginning of each semester through exam week or an equivalent period of time. Along with the rest of the faculty, they enjoy a break at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Spring Break.
Assistantships are available to a few select graduate students who have shown dedication in their undergraduate studies. Teaching and research assistantships are valuable in the sense that they foster strong relationships with faculty and provide the student with the opportunity to get a real feel for academic life.
To apply, submit an Application for Graduate Financial Assistance (available online or in the application packet or from the聽Office of Admissions) to the Graduate Program Director no later than February 15. Full-time graduate assistants are considered in-state students for tuition purposes. Out-of-state graduate assistants may be eligible for a Graduate Tuition Unfunded Scholarship and should consult the Graduate Program Director at 麻豆国产AV.
Students interested in other forms of financial aid such as loans or need-based work study should contact the 麻豆国产AV聽Office of Student Financial Aid, 2002 Rollins Hall, or call (757) 683-3683.
